Happy Birthday Booga! September 7, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — rdnkln @ 11:34 AM

My sweet Booga is 7 today.  I just can’t believe it.  She looks so much older, especially since she got all her hair chopped off.  wahhhhhh!

We had a birthday cookout for her over the weekend.  While it was stressful getting ready for it, it was a fun weekend and most importantly I think she enjoyed it.

Now off for some much needed zzzzz’s.  ROFL.

Ahem…I’m going to have to change the title of our blog…….again.. August 27, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — rdnkln @ 4:37 PM

Yes, you probably guessed it and are saying “ARE YOU CRAZY??????!!!!!!!!!!!!”  I would have to answer a big fat YES!  ROFL.  Yes, we are getting another addition to our family.  So instead of “Two kids, two cats, and a dog” we will be “Two kids, two cats, and two dogs”.  ROFL.   We will get “Buster” tomorrow from our sitter.  He is a black and white cocker spaniel and he was born on May 22 of this year.  He is so cute.  Now, I know you are asking why on earth we named him Buster.  WE didn’t….Kylie did, rofl.  We all tried to get her to name him so many other things, but she was adamant on Buster.  This is the puppy she fell so hard for since he was born and still does.  Out of all the litters Terri has had over the 7 years she’s been there she hasn’t fallen hard for any of the puppies….well she did for Buster and that is why he is coming home with us tomorrow.  Stay tuned for pictures and more stories of our chaos. ROFL!

Back from camping, accidents, and more! August 27, 2009

Well, obviously we are back from camping, lol.  I haven’t had time to post since we’ve gotten back.  It was an AWESOME trip – beautiful weather, no bug bites, no sunburns, lots of relaxation and play time, and Gavin did great as well.  It was just fun.  I have pictures on our website if you are interested.  One thing I don’t have a picture of that I should mention is the last day of the trip.  After we had packed everything up and went to breakfast that last day (the day we were leaving for home) it had started raining.  We knew it was going to, so that’s why we packed up early that Sunday morning.  My parents had come down the night before to surprise us and go out on the boat with us on Sunday morning.  Our friends backed out of the boat ride on Sunday because of the rain, but we had told my parents we’d go if it wasn’t raining at that point.  So we go to the boat ramp and as we get there it started pouring literally cats and dogs, lol.  I covered the kids up in the boat (waiting to get in the water) and we went back to the parking lot.  Ryan was walking Gavin back up to the truck.  We were SO soaked by the time we got back and I got the girls in the car.  Ryan kept Gavin up by the bathroom to stay dry.  No one wanted to smell a wet dog all the way home!  ROFL.  I was so drenched by the time I got to Ryan, it was terrible.  So I changed my clothes in the bathroom and then we ran back to the truck and drove home.  It was all a mess waiting to happen and we should have never attempted to go out on the boat, lol, but we did.  ROFL.

Ok, so then the next excitement in our lives was on August 18 (Tuesday).  The girls went to the fair that day with Terri.  Right before they were going to leave for the day the girls were racing each other near the playground.  They collided…then Megan collided with a massive wooden pole.  OUCH!  So Terri took her to the first aid station and then when they got home I took Megan to Urgent Care to make sure she didn’t crack any bones around her eye.   She got a cut on her eye that required super glue (yes, super glue).  They also super glued the bandaids down so those are going to take forever to come off.  sigh.  Then the rest of the left side of her face was completely black and blue.  It still is, but not as bad!  I put pics on the website of taking her to Urgent Care and while they were looking at it.  It’s really not that bad, things could have been much worse.  It’s not like she already burned her hand a few weeks before that at my parent’s house, lol.  sigh.

And our last news of excitement…….ah I’m gonna make a separate post for that!  ROFL.  Go see new pics in August 2009 album of the photo album :)

Camping fun August 12, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — rdnkln @ 8:29 AM

Well, by this time tomorrow (almost, lol) we will be on our way to go camping!  I think we are all excited about it, for sure.  I’m not quite excited about all the packing I still have left to do, but hey :)   I’m almost done.  I just have a few errands to run tomorrow that don’t exactly excite me, plus need to pick up the house some since Terri is going to be dropping by and giving Hayley her meds twice a day until we get back on Sunday.

So have a great weekend everyone!  Hopefully I’ll have a picture or two to share when I get back :)   Wow, I can’t believe our cruise is just a little over a month away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gavin’s back! August 11, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — rdnkln @ 9:35 AM

Gavin got to come home yesterday from doggie boot camp.  We missed him so much!  He seems to have really improved on the leash, but not quite sure yet about when he’s off leash, around the cats, and the fence.  The fence isn’t going to work, we must think of another approach.  As far as the cats….not sure yet what to do there.

Chocolate August 11, 2009

Filed under: Megan — rdnkln @ 9:34 AM

Last night the girls and I were making baked goods for Ryan’s company bake sale today.  We made banana nut bread, rice crispy treats and brownies.  Of course the girls begged to lick the spoons after making brownies.  Knowing that Megan has an allergen to chocolate, I hesitated, but let her lick the spoon.  There wasn’t much on there and I warned her that it might make her tum tum upset.  She was fine with that as long as she got a taste.  Poor kid.   Well, about 9 pm last night, after the girls had been in bed about an hour, Megan woke up crying.  I knew that it had to be either that she wet the bed, fell off the bed, or was sick.  She had poo’ed her pants — badly.  So we got her into the bathtub, cleaned her up and put her back to bed.  She woke up fine this morning.  Our only conclusion is that it had to be the chocolate.  sigh.  poor baby.  Guess we’ll watch that a bit more carefully.  We’ve let her have pieces here and there of chocolate for s’mores, but she never had the reaction she did last night to the brownie mix.   I must also add that over the weekend (Saturday to be exact) she had some poo problems – loose, but not too loose, stools – and many of them.  So that could have added to the problem.

On a good note, the other day we weighed her and she was back down to 30.3 pounds, BUT when we weighed her Sunday night she’s at 33.2 pounds, so I think the other night was a fluke — We hope so!  She needs to keep gaining for sure.

Two kids, two cats, and a dog August 11, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — rdnkln @ 9:28 AM

I decided to change the title of our family blog to something more fitting for us now that we’ve grown in size.   With all the chaos of having three more family members, Ryan always looks at me with a grin and says “two kids, two cats and a dog” and we both chuckle.  That is our story these days….two kids….two cats….and a dog = chaos, lol.   I don’t think we’d change it for the world.

Was that a weekend? August 10, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — rdnkln @ 2:16 PM

Oy!  What a weekend.  I swear I’m saying that after every weekend these days, lol.  We did some major damage around the property this weekend and squeezed in some pool time at family on Saturday.  It was a ton of fun, but I’m tired!  Kylie went to see High School Musical at the Muni last night with my parents and didn’t get home until after 11:30 p.m…..zzzzzzzzz.   Yeah, and she’ll get to take a nap today, but what does mom get?  sigh., lol.

The girls pics turned out beautiful!!!  Here is one for you to see, you can see the rest of them on the website in the August album.  Enjoy!

Picture day! August 7, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — rdnkln @ 2:16 PM

The girls are here with me at work as Terri is on vacation this week.  So this afternoon I thought we’d go get pictures taken.  Megan never had her 4 year ones done and Kylie’s 7 year ones are about due so we’ll just get them done together.  Let’s hope they cooperate and the pictures turn out well.  They are not cooperating here at work, that is for sure!

Yesterday mom watched the girls.  Megan apparently stuck her hand in the oven (sigh) and got a very nasty nasty burn on her right thumb/wrist area.  I hope it heals up well and doesn’t scar too badly.  It’s a nasty booger for sure!  Poor thing.

Have a great Friday!

It’s been a long time August 6, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — rdnkln @ 6:40 PM

Gosh, it’s been over a month since I last posted!  I always say I’m going to do better about blogging and then don’t :(   Sigh.

Well, we were very busy in July.  We were getting used to our new additions to the family.  Sox got frightened badly by Gavin and so Sox had to spend a week back at the APL so he could get better.   Then we were able to bring him and we had to keep the dog away from him for two weeks.  Let’s just say how much fun that was.  Not!

We celebrated the 4th of July in Mt. Vernon with my SIL and her family.  That was a lot of fun.  We got to take Gavin with us and he did wonderful.  EXCEPT for that instance when Ryan decided to let him roam off the leash and Gavin decided to run FAR FAR AWAY — that left Ryan exhausted and upset!  The girls and I were at the movies seeing Ice Age 3 while this all happened, lol.

We worked on training Gavin.  Well, I guess I should admit RYAN worked on training Gavin, lol.  We had installed the new wireless wifi fence so he trained him on that.  Let’s just say that didn’t go well, either.  Gavin is an escape artist to say the least.

My neice, Kirsten, got to spend some time with us in July as well. That was a LOT of fun!  It was nice having her stay with us and we made the best of all the time we had together.  We miss you, Kirsten!  Oh and yes, we miss you too, Wyat.  We would have had you too, except at your age I don’t think you want to spend time with the uncle and aunt, lol.

Besides the normal every day chaos, my mom and I had a garage sale.  I was pretty successful, almost getting $100!  The girls had their lemonade stand there as well, and seemed to do pretty good with it profit wise.

Gavin also went to get groomed for the first time.  I thought it was time to get his nails clipped after he playfully scratched the my eye lid and face…yeah, it needed to be done.  OUCH!  I also had his front leg hair clipped because he kept peeing in it, lol.

On July 27 we took Gavin to doggy boot camp for two weeks.  Ryan and I decided it would be faster to have him boarded and trained (2 weeks) versus us doing the training at home for 12 weeks with a private trainer.  We sure still miss him.  He gets to come home on Monday, August 10!!!!  I miss the morning walks we had — it will be hard to start them back up, but will be fun.  What I don’t miss is him barking, jumping up in bed at 4 am to let me know he has to go potty.  Then me outside in the pitch dark, tired, not awake and begging the dog to go pee and poo!  ROFL.  Never thought I’d be in a situation like that, but I was.

We have a busy few months ahead of us with parties, camping, cruise, etc.  God help us!  lol.  It will be fun, though.  We are enjoying every minute of our summer together before the girls go back to school.  The weather in July was fabulous so we got out a lot.  Oh and we all went on our first bike trail together last Saturday.  It would have been more fun if Megan would have made it farther.  Her and I ended up having to turn back to the truck and wait for Ryan and Kylie to finish.  It was just fun, though, hitting that new milestone in our lives.  Ryan and I look forward to many more bike rides with the girls.

Hopefully I’ll get my stuff together and blog a bit more in the next two crazy months!  Oh, check out the website photo album — I finally got April through now updated.  LOL!
