SNOW, princesses, and lost tooth

It rained like cats and dogs all day Saturday.  I can almost say literally, lol.  We woke up yesterday morning to everything covered in snow!  Everything was white.  Ryan took the girls outside to build the first snowman we’ve gotten to make and go sledding as well.  I worked on taking off wallpaper border in our master bath.  Yeah, loads of fun, I tell you!  By 1 pm, Mr. Snowman had fallen over and begun to seriously melt!  By 3:30 pm, it barely looked like it had snowed several inches.  Very weird weather, for sure.

Well, we had to miss the Spring Fling at school on Saturday because of lingering fevers.  Sunday everyone seemed well enough, so the girls got to attend Emilia’s birthday party.  They had to go as princesses, and I might say they were beautiful!  Kylie even won best costume with 2 other girls who won as well.  It was fun, but exhausting.

Last night when Kylie was getting ready for bed, she raced out into the living room and let us know she lost another tooth!  Tooth number 3.  The lower left side one – not sure of its name, lol.  She was super excited!  We prepared the tooth for the tooth fairy and she was off to lala land.

Sick, sick, SICK!

Ryan and I should by stock in our local urgent care.  Wednesday night (25th) I spent the evening in the urgent care with Kylie.  She had a pretty severe ear infection in her……right ear, I think.  I also got treated for this stupid sinus infection I’ve had for over 6 weeks now.  sigh.  Let’s hope the z-pac worked!  Kylie actually came down the ear pain on Tuesday but she really wouldn’t tell us what was going on until Wednesday.   I was greeted that evening when I got back with Ryan telling me Megan had a fever.  Argggghhhh!

Thursday I spent the evening at urgent care with Megan because her fever was 103.3 and she was acting lethargic.  Nothing wrong with her accept some sort of a viral infection they couldn’t see —- or her monthly fever thingy.  Who knows.

What to look forward to on the weekend, ey?

Orthodontist

Kylie had her preventative orthodonist appointment today.  He said things looked great and he’d see us back in 6 months.  We just need to keep track of her tooth loss.  I was relieved he didn’t say that she needed any teeth pulled yet.  Whew!

Eat, eat, eat, eat!!!!!!!!

This past Friday, on my afternoon off, the girls and I went clothes shopping and to get groceries.  They got the most darling dresses.  I tell ya, they dress better than I do and have way more clothes than I do, lol.  I was going to wait to get them spring dresses when we go visit the Horvath family sometime in April, but I couldn’t wait and either could the girls.  I’m sure I can find summer outfits for them in April.  Perhaps for our cruise?  hee hee.  Anyways, afterwards we went to the grocery store and bought lots of foods, and most importantly FRUIT.  Our girls eat fruit like it’s candy!  Thank goodness for that, no complaints here.

My complaint was the constant fixing of fruit ALL WEEKEND LONG!!!!!  Those two girls just ate, and ate, and ate, and ate.  I bet they cleared out at least 1/2 of the fruit we bought Friday.  I know they ate a whole bag of apples, 1 container of strawberries and a little of another one, 4 plums, 2 peaches and some black berries.  And that’s what I remember, lol.

It is so nice to see Megan so hungry and wanting to eat, since that is not her norm since birth, but fixing food 24/7 is exhausting!  BTW, she did get on the scale this weekend and it said 30 POUNDS!!!!! YIPPEEE!!! I hope the trend continues.  We’ve been stuck at the same weight for so long, it’s nice to hit that 30 pound mark, finally.  Now we just have to stay there! lol.

A new swing set

Well, I was able to convince Ryan to get the girls a new swing set.  We talked about it at the end of last year when we got rid of the old one.  We got rid of the old one because it became a place for spiders and wasps to nest.  Getting a metal swing set would alleviate that problem (somewhat) so that is what we did.  Putting together anything is no small feat for Ryan and I.  We are two peas in a pod, I tell ya.  Everything that has to be put together takes a lot of effort on our part, LOTS, lol.  Bless his heart, Ryan put a portion of the swing set together alone since I was battling a migraine (1st one in many many months).  He had such a difficult time getting it together (probably because in all reality those swing sets are pieces of junk, lol – just quoting my wonderful husband).  So yesterday, Sunday, we worked on it together and got it done.  We had to work in the rain, a bit, as well, but we got it done!  Teamwork – we do work better as a team than trying to do things alone.

Sorry, no pics yet of the girls on their new swing set.  They played on it for a little bit last night, but it was cold, wet, and we were just too exhausted to run all the way up to the house for the camera.  LOL.

A lot has happened since last blog

I’m trying to think of what all has happened since my last blog, I know it’s been a lot.

  • Megan had her ENT appointment on February 23 to have her tonsils looked at.  The doctor said they were large, but not sure if they were large enough to take out.  He suggested we do an antibiotic/steroid combination first to see if that shrinks them down.  So that is the route we took.  Do you know how a child on steroids act?  It was seriously weird!  She would all of a sudden put her hands in the air, and start screaming like a mad woman, and running through the house.  It was quite comical but scary at the same time.  ROFL.
  • On Tuesday, February 24 we got an appointment with Dr. Amar, her pedi gastro doc.  He had a cancellation so we got in quicker than April 14.  He decided we need to do an endoscope on her but wanted to do blood work before scheduling the procedure.  So Ryan took her to get the blood work done.
  • On Thursday, February 26 Megan had her allergist appointment, which was just a routine check-up and everything is still fine.  BTW, I forgot to mention the entire week Megan was suffering from a terrible cold/chest cold so she was not feeling well AT ALL.
  • On Friday, February 27 I got a call from Dr. Amar’s nurse telling me Megan’s blood levels were not good.  The nurse said that Megan’s inflammation markers were highly elevated. Her SED rate was 77 and it should be between 0 and 20. Her c-reative protein level was 1.3 and should be less than 1.  I asked the nurse what that meant and she said “all I can say is she has severe inflammation somewhere and he’ll have to scope the esophagus and the bum and take biopsies and see WHY there is inflammation”.   I was FREAKING OUT.  So Megan had to have the endoscope and colonoscopy that next week.
  • On Sunday, March 1 Kylie came down with a HIGH fever.
  • March 2 and 3 Ryan stayed home with both girls.  Megan had to take that stuff to make her poop and couldn’t eat barely anything.  Kylie had a fever.
  • Tuesday, March 3 – that evening Kylie stayed the night at Terri’s for the 1st time because Ryan, Megan and I had to get up so early the next morning for her procedure.  Kylie ended up going to school the next day without a fever.
  • Wednesday, March 4 we went in at 5:30 am to St. John’s for the procedure.  We had to be there by 6 am and the procedure was to be at 6 am.  Megan did exceptionally well with waiting for the procedure and I contribute that to a wonderful staff.  The waiting was the worst for Ryan and I.  We were home by 11 am.  Megan was so starving that she ate chicken mcnuggets and a whole cheeseburger on the ride home from the hospital.  LOL.
  • Meanwhile that whole week my van was in the shop being worked on since we got rear-ended on the 15th of February.  sigh.  At least the insurance company gave us a rental.
  • Thursday late afternoon on the 5th, Megan came down with a HIGH fever.  It scared the dickens out of me because Ryan was in Chicago and the doc had said if she developed a high fever to call them.  It turned out it must have been from the same thing Kylie had, not the anesthesia.  On Friday the 6th she stayed at Terri’s all day.
  • Some time the next week, March 9 – 13, we got a call from the nurse’s office saying that one of Megan’s biopsies came back as being moderately lactase deficient.  So she would have to take 2 pills every time she eats or snacks and drink lactaid milk.  They also wanted to do a stool study before discussing the matter with us further.  sigh.  more for the poor Megan.
  • March 13 the girls stayed the night at Ryan’s moms and Jim, Jen, and the kids came down to stay with us for the weekend.
  • March 14 was Megan’s birthday party at Midstate and it was a lot of fun.  The whole Nation clan came out for dinner afterwards and it was a great evening for all!
  • March 15 the girls spent the night at Karen’s again since they took Angi and Kirsten to the airport so late.  I was a little sad because I wouldn’t be able to see Megan on the morning of her birthday.  sniff sniff.
  • March 16.  My baby girl, my little bit, turned 4!!!! I didn’t get to see her beautiful face when she woke up that morning, but I got to at least talk to her beautiful voice on the phone from grandma’s.  I couldn’t wait to get off of work to see her.  She chose Pizza Hut as her place for birthday dinner, fitting since it’s the only place we can go with her food allergens, lol.  She opened her gifts – sissy got her a tattoo barbie doll, we got her a bike (which she got a few days earlier), a hello kitty lunch box and thermos, and some glitter glue.  Then we went home and played outside on her new bike.  It was a great evening.  I still can’t believe she is 4!!!!
  • March 17 – Kylie came down with the high fever again!!! And still has it off and on since.  Megan woke up this morning (19th) with a raspy cough, and I still have some sort of head cold/sore throat.  Us girls are a mess, lol.

Ok, I know that was long, but hopefully I’ll stay more current.  I know I need to post photos to the website as well.
