Hi everyone. I know, I dropped off the face of the earth, lol. Where do I start?
I was to start my vacation with the girls on December 19. That was their last day of school before break started and it was to last until they go back to school on January 5. WELL…..Kylie came home from school on December 18 puking. I took her to the Urgent Care and she had strep throat. What was the odds after Ryan and I had it earlier in the month. sigh. So that was a great start to our vacation. I obviously kept her home on the 19th, which meant she was going to miss her class party. The morning of the 19th Megan woke up with her left eye swollen and pink. Of course I thought I was in the twilight zone at this point and decided to keep her home that day too and get her to see Dr. L to make sure it wasn’t pink eye. She missed her party, too. Megan ended up just having a bacterial infection in her eye. Come to find out there were over a 100 kids sick each day that Thursday and Friday. sigh.
Fast forward to December 22 when the Langa’s came to stay with us for the holiday. Everything was going well, enjoying everyone’s company and on December 23 I started to feel very sick. I felt sick like I did over a year ago with my stomach problems. sigh. The weather was very icy and bad that day so we couldn’t do any of the things we had planned doing with our company. The Langa’s ended up watching our girls so Ryan could take me to see Dr. L. He thought I had some intestinal virus from all the antibiotics I had been on. Of course the nurse just laughed when she saw us come in because we’ve seen them so much this past month or so, it really isn’t even funny. sigh.
Christmas eve was nice. Our dinner turned out great and I was feeling a bit better. It was a wonderful evening with family EXCEPT for poor Kirsten who was puking almost the entire time. The Langa’s spent an extra night with Kirsten sick and left Christmas morning.
Christmas day was very nice. Oh it was so wondeful seeing the girls open their presents. I got the most wonderful gifts from my WONDERFUL husband. He suprised me well. I loved watching him open all his gifts as well. It was just a wonderful day for us all. Afterwards we went over to my parents for Christmas lunch. It was nice there as well.
Fast forward to December 28 when we got the call that Grandma Yancy went into the hospital. She had been battling breast/lung cancer for over a year and had fallen ill to pneumonia. The antibiotics weren’t working and she was getting weaker so Grandpa took her in. I went up to the hospital alone that night and little did I know that would be the last night anyone saw her coherent. I feel terrible the girls didn’t get to say and hear “I love yous”, but I am greatful that I got to say and hear I love you from my grandma. (more on this below).
December 31 was New Year’s eve and we all went over to the Benanti’s for dinner and then to the Ervin’s for festivities. The girls were awesome at the Ervin’s and we all got to ring in the new year there with family and friends. The girls had a blast. I had fun talking with everyone, being with my husband and girls and playing matches of Life Saber (star wars?). Ha ha. It was a great start to the new year.
The next few days after that was spent up at the hospital with Grandma who was continually getting worse and basically in a morphine coma. It was getting unreal to believe she might not make it. Ryan’s mom took the girls off and on that weekend to spend time with the girls and let Ryan and I rest a bit.
Sunday, January 4 – Grandma passed away at 3:20 p.m. I got a call from dad around 4 pm that mom said Grandma was not doing well. The girls were with Karen and so Ryan and I immediately rushed up to the hospital. We hadn’t been there earlier that day and little did I know I’d regret that the rest of my life. When we got to her hospital room I saw all the tubes were gone from Grandma’s body and Grandpa was trying to use the phone. I knew then she was gone. That day was a blur and I was definitely numb with disbelief. We called family and consoled each other and then everyone left the hospital. We went to pick up the girls and try to explain to them that their Grandma Great was gone. That was so hard and still at that time I didn’t believe it.
Wednesday, January 7 was the visitation. I was still numb and in such disbelief. On Thursday, January 8 we layed her to rest. It hit me that day but I still felt numb with disbelief. On Friday, January 9 I woke up and realized it was real, but I felt more peaceful because I knew she wasn’t in pain anymore. We will miss her so very much. We love you Grandma.
The night of January 7 Megan started having severe diarrhea. The afternoon of January 8 she was puking several times. At 3 am January 8, Kylie puked. I started to wonder if this was all real. We had been through so much sickness, death, missing of work, etc I just couldn’t believe we were going through this again. We have never had so much sickness ever. It was unreal. So I stayed home from work on Friday and the girls stayed home from school. We were supposed to go see the Horvath’s for the weekend but had to postpone that as well.
That brings us to today. Megan still struggles with weight, diarrhea, complaining of her tummy hurting etc and so we went to see Dr. L again. I’m too tired and exhausted to explain her “issues” once more but we do go see an allergist on Monday to hopefully get some answers. They took blood, urine, and an abdominal x-ray today. On top of that I’m still having my stomach issues and after seeing the doc too many times in the past few months they did urine, blood, and ordered ultrasounds for me on Friday. We need a prayer at this point! sigh.
Ok, I’ve posted enough today, lol. I’ll try to keep things updated a bit more, hopefully.
